Math Tutoring
Struggling with math is common for students of all ages. Falling behind in high school can lead some students to think they should just opt to drop any additional math. We know that excelling in math will help open so many opportunities in college and beyond. Reaching out for help with an excellent math tutor can keep those opportunities open.

Math Subjects
If the thought of your math class, homework or a test deflates all your confidence, a tutor has the power to turn that around. As math gets more and more advanced, it is common for students who once loved finding the perfect solutions of math to feel frustrated and confused as to how to get at that one answer. We can get that spark back in our students, motivating them to use their formulas, problem-solving logic and easy-to-apply routines to improve their math grades.
Math Tutoring Can Make the Difference for You
Attaining good math scores in your classes and on your AP and college entrance examinations will require you to do more than basic rote memorization.
When universities are making decisions about admissions, one of the key components of your application is your academic record. In order to gain admission to the top schools in the U.S., you will need to take rigorous courses in math and do well in them. Many students struggle with math, and getting tutoring early is important so that you learn the concepts, take them into each progressive class, and get top grades in advanced courses. With math tutoring, you may also improve your corresponding math subtest scores on the SAT or ACT.

How Math Tutoring Can Help
While it is best to start with math tutoring as early as possible, you can still derive some benefit from it even in your advanced courses. Some children may need tutoring in math as early as second grade. Even if you have always done fairly well at math, you may need help in high school with your more difficult math coursework such as advanced placement courses and dual-credit classes. The goal should be attaining the best grades in your classes as well as to internalize the information.
Attaining good math scores in your classes and on your AP and college entrance examinations will require you to do more than basic rote memorization. With tutoring, we can help you to discover how you arrived at your answers and why the answers make logical sense. You will, of course, need to learn formulas, but understanding how those formulas work and why they do is just as important as simply plugging in the numbers.
The National Center for Education Statistics reports that only 9 percent of U.S. students are top performers in math as compared to 13 percent of students in the 34 countries included in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. Top performers in math have superior math reasoning and literacy skills. The underperformance of U.S. students in mathematics points to the need for improvements in math instruction as well as for expert tutoring.
A study that was conducted in the 1980s with students who had received math tutoring as well as students who did not showed that those who received tutoring had scores that were two standard deviations higher than those who did not receive one-on-one tutoring. In the study, those students who were tutored in math outscored 98 percent of their peers in the control and mastery groups. This demonstrates the benefits that you might receive from getting tutoring in math.
